What Does Scarifying a Lawn Mean?
- A lawn scarifier looks like a lawn mower but does a very different job.
- It has knife blades spaced out on a reel, which act like a comb.
- The blades comb the lawn, forcing out any build-up of moss at grass root level.
- The blades height can be adjusted to remove as much or as little as needed.
Why Does a Lawn Need Scarifying?
- To remove dead grass, this is called thatch
- To remove moss and weeds
- To prune grass plants and encourage new growth
How to Use a Lawn Scarifier
- Before turning on the machine, adjust the blade height. This is best done on a hard surface.
- Start the motor and test that you have the blades set at the correct height
- Change direction for second and progressive runs. This removes more debris faster.
